Turning a complex WFM implementation into a platform for what came next
CDS delivered a UKG Pro WFM implementation that succeeded technically and earned exceptional confidence from the people who had to live with the result.

A meaningful result, with the client identity kept private.
The organisation is described by sector and business type so the operational context remains clear without implying permission to use its name or brand.
- Organisation
- A major UK public transport operator with a complex, operationally critical workforce
- Platform
- UKG Pro Workforce Management
- CDS role
- Implementation delivery, cutover support and transition into live operation
- Result
- A successful launch, exceptional stakeholder confidence and a clear path to further value
The problem behind the project.
Workforce management in public transport has little tolerance for ambiguity. People, shifts, rules and operational responsibilities have to move together, while the implementation team still needs to make hundreds of design and delivery decisions at pace.
The organisation needed more than a technically correct configuration. It needed a delivery partner able to understand transport operations, keep the programme moving and work openly with its own team from design through cutover and hypercare.
The real test would come at the end: whether the people closest to the programme trusted the solution, the delivery process and the team behind it.
Specialists around one client outcome.
CDS brought functional, technical and delivery disciplines together as one accountable team. The emphasis throughout was on making the platform work for the organisation, not merely completing a list of configuration tasks.
- 01
Understand the operation
The team anchored design decisions in the organisation's real workforce processes, constraints and day-to-day operating context.
- 02
Own the difficult detail
Functional configuration, technical dependencies and project decisions were handled as connected parts of the same outcome.
- 03
Stay close through cutover
CDS maintained hands-on support as the programme moved into live use, resolving issues without losing sight of operational readiness.
- 04
Build beyond go-live
The closing review was used to identify further value, including additional work, a possible second phase and ongoing support.
What changed for the organisation.
A confident live transition
The organisation moved into live operation with the delivery relationship intact and stakeholder confidence high.
No corrective themes at close
At the formal sunset review, the client team did not identify anything it wanted CDS to have handled differently or better.
Demand for more
The engagement led directly to discussion of additional work, a potential second phase and longer-term ProCare support.
Advocacy with substance
The organisation volunteered multiple independent reviews, agreed to act as a reference and later had a review published on the partner marketplace.
The strongest result was not a feature. It was trust.
A system can be live while the relationship around it is exhausted. This programme ended differently. The closing conversation created momentum for the next phase rather than relief that the work was over.
That is what CDS aims for on complex implementation work: a dependable platform, a capable client team and enough confidence on both sides to keep improving what comes next.
